Of course days after I post my Gen Con wish list Catalyst Game Labs goes and announces a new book that has now become my top priority. Interstellar Operations is finally here! Well . . . kind of.
Catalyst has released what they are calling Interstellar Operations Beta, a reduced price PDF of almost the full rule book. The announcement post on their website seems to indicate that one of the only things missing is the books index. This is such a great idea. I’ve been looking forward to Interstellar Operation for a very long time, but I was really kind of worried about picking up the first printing due to the amount of errata that I was convinced would be released shortly after it’s printing. Well, I have nothing to fear now because purchases of the beta version of the book will be upgraded free of charge when the full version is finalized.
Oh, but what does this have to do with GenCon? Well they are also releasing a limited edition softcover “GenCon printing” of the book for only $20! But it get’s even better, because the physical copy of the book comes with a free copy of that PDF I was just raving about. Now my only worry is that I won’t make it to the Catalyst booth before they all sell out.
Comments and corrections (and player submitted scenarios!) are due to Catalyst by September 1st, so expect the finalized version to be released in hardcover as soon as the printers can crank them out after that date.
More info on Interstellar Operations Beta, plus a bunch of other super awesome crazy stuff, can be found in official announcement right here.
